This was our second visit to Mill Farm and once again we stopped in kingfisher lodge.Upon arrival the lodge was clean and tidy with everything you would need, the hosts Neil and Gill are there if you need them but give you space to do your own thing. The fishing at the spring fed lake was just excellent with one red letter day when I Managed over 28 carp ( sorry … More I Lost count ) for what must have been well over 100 lb of fish. All the fish were pristine and looked like they had never been caught. The lodge itself is very handily placed for getting out and about and the pub is just up the road. I would have no hesitation in recommending any of the lodges for a lovely holiday.Mark Linda and two boxers Ruby and Betty

Our family of four + our dog have now stayed at Mill Farm twice, once in Otter cottage and the other in Kingfisher lodge, and both times we have been very happy with our stay.
Key points:
• Clean and warm accomodation with all the essentials provided.
• Lovely views that overlooking a private, well-stocked fishing lake (free to use for guests).
• An enclosed … More front garden where our dog could safely relax.
• Grounds also include a private campfire site with kindling and fire wood provided, as well as complimentary hot chocolate, marshmallows and skewers 😊.
Thank you Neil and Gill (our hosts) for being so welcoming and super responsive to our messages, both prior and during our stays.
We look forward to visiting again in the future! -

From the initial, friendly, contact with Neil and Gill, to the end of our stay, our family cannot fault our booking. The beautiful location, the brilliantly equipped cabins, the stunning lake, currently scattered with an explosion of flowering water lilies. Oh, and don't forget feeding the friendly Alpacas, the highlight for the grandchildren, along with … More the guinea pig cuddles.
We were a double booking, a mixed family of eight, ranging from a lively 3 year old to a grandfather with mobility issues.
That same grandfather hasn't managed to fish for over 30 years, and was able to catch and release multiple Rudd, although Carp of many varieties are present too. A rod licence is required, less than £15 from the environment agency, for 1 weeks fishing. Definitely value for money.
The informative insider information folder, in each cabin, was a positive gold mine for the family. Can personally recommend the takeaway from the local pub, the Bradworthy Arms, the local grocery shop (great coffee too! ), The Bush for the Sunday roast (great choice of vegetables) and Blackrock Beach, a little further away, for the exuberant setters, dog friendly and a vast sandy beach, at low tide, for those same setters to run free with the grandchildren. An excellent butchers, providing home cooked pasties and great bbq supplies rounded off a perfect, lazy week.
As a family we hope to go back soon. -

We stayed as a wider family group in all three cottages and we were very impressed with the general location, the immediate surroundings and the accommodation itself. The hosts were as welcoming as can be. The recommended local catering was also very good too, especially "The Bush", near Bude.
We would recommend buying your BBQ supplies from the hosts' … More son Tom, who supplies meat to local businesses as well as direct to people like us. Needless to say we brought some home too. -

We went to Mill Farm for an Alpaca experience and we had such a good time. Neil and Jill were both lovely and so welcoming and of course the Alpacas were gorgeous. Mill Farm is such a beautiful location, the lodges look right over the stunning lake and each has their own garden. Well worth a visit or a stay !!

We have just returned from a fabulous week staying in Owl Lodge with our 3 sons and 2 dogs. Communication from Gill at the start of booking this holiday was superb, on arrival we were welcomed with a much appreciated box of treats for us and the dogs! The lodge was spotless and very comfy with lots of extras that made the stay so much nicer than other places … More we’ve visited including large fluffy towels. Views from the lodge are absolutely stunning even on the greyest of days! All lodges look out onto the vast fishing lake, which our boys thoroughly enjoyed spending many hours catching the fish. Neil was super helpful when one of our sons had trouble with one of his fishing rods and kindly helped him get it up and running/catching again! The friendly alpacas that live here just make you smile every time you see them and both Gill and Neil took the time to let us meet them all, feed them and answer our endless questions! There are some real lovely spots around the farm - riverside retreat was a perfect little hut I could sit and read my book whilst watching the boys fish a stone throw away. There is a really cosy separate area where you can have a lovely campfire in the evenings - we were provided with everything we needed for a perfect family evening, logs, kindling, marshmallows, toasting sticks etc! There are also facilities to bbq right in your garden at your lodge. The village which is walking distance, has everything you need, a very friendly local pub, grocery shops, butchers etc Beautiful beaches and more fishing lakes were just a short drive away. A welcome pack has loads of information on places to go! Gill and Neil were the perfect hosts - always helpful & available if needed - but also so respectful of not being intrusive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone - it is the most perfect place for escapism!

If you want to master the art of doing absolutely nothing, Mill Farm retreat is the one for you, and whether you are into your fishing or not, it really doesn't matter. The lake is an added bonus! After what has been a stressful year with our jobs, we just wanted to be away from the crowds, to be able to wind down and create a bit of headspace for ourselves. … More Mill Farm allowed us that. Sitting out in the sunshine in the private garden of the Kingfisher Cabin overlooking the lake was truly tranquil, with just the noise of the fish jumping out the water and the birds singing, with absolutely no thoughts about work and what was going on back at home. Even the odd rumble of a tractor or a car passing on the lane behind didn't bother us in the slightest. Our accommodation was more than comfortable and absolutely spotless, unbelievably spotless in fact, and even though the hosts (Neil and Gill) live on site you never see them. Unless of course you book an Alpaca experience, which we suggest you do! All in all, a great place for your mental health and wellbeing. Thank you Neil and Gill for sharing with us your beautiful home and surroundings. We would recommend Mill Farm to anyone and we hope to be back in the future.

What a hidden gem. This was our second visit, because Mill Farm had so much to offer we couldn’t think of anywhere we’d rather stay. The setting is so tranquil, the lake really is beautiful and the views from the field over rolling countryside are stunning. Our children LOVED the wildlife, feeding the fish, finding baby frogs but especially the alpaca and Guinea … More pig experience. The accommodation has literally everything you could possibly need and the welcome pack is a lovely treat on arrival. Neil & Gill are the perfect hosts. The fire pit is a brilliant addition and our girls really enjoyed toasting marshmallows. We did lots during our stay as it’s only 20-30 mins drive to lovely beaches. Bradworthy has a great pub and a visiting pizza van which is excellent and super handy. Sad to be leaving but will return again soon.

Just finished a week in Owl Lodge with our two children, fantastic. The lodge is great, spotless on arrival, and a very generous welcome box of goodies! Our two dogs (chihuahua and border collie) loved it as well. Beautiful, peaceful setting. The fishing was fantastic - we had lots of carp up to about 8lb, roach, rudd, and a little perch.North Devon is a beautifully … More stunning location as long as you don’t mind a bit of driving. The alpacas are fascinatingly curious creatures who enjoy watching you fish! And the campfire area is a lovely touch. The owners are lovely, and you really feel like everything has been taken care of and thought about. We highly recommend it for a quiet peaceful getaway.

We had a fabulous week staying in Owl Lodge, with our cockapoo Alfie. We loved the setting, the view from the lodge was the best we’ve had on a holiday and the peace and tranquillity was everything we’d hoped for. I’d never tire of that view across the lake, and we were more than happy to sit on the deck rather than go out. We took advantage of the fire pit one … More evening and toasted marshmallows, something I’ve never done before!Bradworthy is the perfect base for exploring the coast, being about 20 minutes from Bude and Sandymouth Bay, our 2 favourites. Tamar Lakes has a lovely 3 mile walk round the upper lake and it’s only a 5 minute drive from Mill Farm, great cream tea in the cafe too 😋 The village itself has lots to offer, we had takeaway meals twice from the pub, and also pizza from Alex’s Woodfired Pizza, who comes to the square on a Thursday. We wish Gill and Neil every success with Mill Farm, they certainly deserve it after all the hard work they’ve put in. I’m sure we’ll be back.

Spent an amazing week in a beautiful lodge with everything we could wish for. Sparkling clean and well furnished with dishwasher, oven and great selection of utensils and crockery. The hosts were so friendly and knowledgeable about things to do and made great recommendations for eating out and takeaways.Idyllic off the beaten track location but within walking … More distance of a great pub, post office and petrol station. A short drive on quiet roads to the beach and shops for fudge and holiday bits as well as supermarkets and chemists. We loved the alpaca experience which was included in our stay and actually got to meet them and get kisses. Sadly we couldn’t fit one in the car to bring home lol.Overall one of the best holidays we have had, so relaxing and stress free, will be booking to return again soon. Thanks Neill and Gill from Carl and Cat x

We booked a last minute stay at Otter Cottage in September and had a lovely time. The cottage itself was kitted out with everything we needed, the welcome pack was lovely - our dog loved the complimentary dog biscuits! Mill Farm is so peaceful and we loved sitting out in the garden and looking over the lake. The location was perfect as we were in easy reach … More of some great dog friendly beaches and walks.I really recommend The Rectory Tea Rooms (as suggested in the guest book), the scones were probably the best I've had!

Total relaxation, quiet and charming. This place makes you want to pack up and move to Devon. The cabin was clean, modern and had wonderful views of the small lakes and surrounding greenery. We used Mill Farm as a base and you can easily all the North Cornwall beaches from here. Beach is only 20 mins away but you feel right in the heart of the country. Also … More feeding the alpacas was a new experience, loved it!

Mill Farm Devon Holidays was recommended to me by a friend and sure enough we weren't disappointed. Totally awesome place and well done to Gill and Neil to make this place happen the way it is in the short and uncertain period time they had. We spent most of our holiday fishing the lake and chilling out in the Lodge. The Lake produced a very healthy and … More stunning condition of fish in various varieties. We mainly fished for Carp and catch of the week weighed in at 9lbs. Excellent place to fish with the family. The Lodge has everything you need to a very high standard and the beds were voted most amazing and comfortable item of the holiday. We have never slept so well. Neil and Gill are always on hand if you need them but not intrusive in any way, just the perfect hosts. Well done to the two of you and best of luck in the future, we will most certainly return one day and be recommending this to everyone we know. Thanks for a great holiday

Just back from a great week at Mill Farm. Can't recommend it highly enough. Close enough to all the great beaches from Hartland down to Bude, but east of the main A39 so doesn't get all the hustle and bustle of the coastal resorts. The well equipped accommodation has been renovated to a high standard and sits next to the lake. Beautiful and tranquil!!If … More you like coarse fishing, this is a gem and it was only 40 paces from the lodge garden to the swim! . Well stocked lake with a variety of species. I caught lots of carp to 9lbs but I saw much bigger - and some rudd up to a pound or so.Lovely grounds to walk around and make sure you see the alpacas - real characters.Bradworthy itself is a great village with shops and a marvellous pub. The Bradworthy Arms also does take-aways and we ate on the veranda on several evenings. Great food and really reasonably priced.Gill & Neil are great hosts and will send you in the right direction if you don't know the area.Highly recommended... will we return!!!

We have recently returned from a lovely stay in Kingfisher Lodge at Mill Farm. The lodge had everything we needed and lovely touches like plenty of loo roll, hand soaps, dishwasher tablets, milk in the fridge, welcome pack with tea / coffee / hot choc - little things like this are great! The view from the lodge was just stunning, across the lake with the Alpaca's … More in the field grazing. Neil and Gill were so welcoming and friendly, my daughter really enjoyed the morning meet up with Prince, Ziggy and Freddie. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

We had a lovely week at your fabulous Kingfisher Cabin last week. Thank-you for making it such a perfect peaceful holiday getaway. The cabin was pristine and very well appointed and comfortable, with attention to detail and a thoughtful welcome pack. The grounds and lake were lovely and so pretty, a perfect cottagey mix of more and less wild elements. It is a … More perfect location, too, for exploring lots of the coast path and we will definitely be coming back when we have the opportunity, and recommend you to friends.

What a wonderful find! Such a beautiful location - right by the fishing lake - the view from our Lodge was amazing - even in the rain!
The Lodge itself was top class - newly refurbished - the owners have put real thought into the decor & the little extras. The coffee machine, toaster, microwave & kettle all matched and there was cling film, folk, kitchen … More roll & washing up liquid provided among other things. A great shower and very comfy beds.
It is a 5 mins walk into Bradworthy and the local pub had a very good restaurant with excellent service & food quality.
There are many beautiful beaches within a short drive.
The owners Gill & Neil were lovely and happy to suggest places to go.
Last but definitely not least there are the Alpacas & Daisy the dog. Prince, Ziggy & Freddie the Alpacas come for a walk past the lodges every morning & I had a little stroke each time. And if you are lucky enough to meet Daisy she will be very pleased to meet you!
Mill Fam is a great place for spending family time and the perfect base explore North Devon. Highly recommended. -

We enjoyed staying in Owl Lodge at Mill Farm which was of a high standard/quality and a pleasure to stay in. The lodge had everything we needed and we were pleasantly surprised by the kitchen facilities. There were amazing views of flowers, greenery and the lake from our lodge. First thing in the morning, we were impressed by the picturesque setting seen through … More the large glass doors/windows which run the entire length of the front of the lodge! We enjoyed sitting in our garden area to eat alfresco and feel ourselves relaxing.During our stay, we went to Sandymouth beach and Westward Ho! beach which were great days out and only a short drive away. Also, just a 5 minute walk up the road is the village of Bradworthy, which is a good sized village with a few shops and pub etc.We look forward to heading back to see the alpacas in the future.Neil and Gill are great hosts and were keen to make our stay enjoyable.

We, as a family have stayed at Mill Farm on numerous occasions as it is such a peaceful, tranquil and beautiful place to relax and unwind. We stay in Kingfisher Lodge each time (previously known as Four Seasons 2) I can guarantee once you have stayed here you will be hooked! Lovely owners Gill and Neil, who have recently bought Mill Farm, have renovated the once … More tired lodges to bring them up to date with bright and stylish decor with a modern kitchen and the most comfortable bed I've slept in in a long time! The new front of lodge glass panelling is a fantastic idea as you can see the beautiful views of the grounds and pond, while dining or sitting on the stylish and comfortable couches. The BBQ supplied is also an added bonus as is the fire pit at the top of the field, which we used on a couple of occasions when it became a bit colder in the evening, but still light enough to sit reading our books and listening to the birds chirping. The alpacas are worth a wee visit, which are in the field next to where the fire pit is. Oh and Bailey their wee Springer Spaniel is soooo cute too! I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is and cannot wait to return once again!

We had a fabulous holiday at mill farm last week. The cottage and lodges are stunning. Decorated and fitted out to a really high standard. The kitchens have all you need to cook or just enjoy a take out😀
The lake is beautiful and my girls loved feeding the fish. The Alpacas were also a huge hit and we’d have smuggled Prince home if we could! A wonderful experience … More meeting them.
The hosts Neil and Gill are lovely. Available and helpful whenever needed and had some great ideas for the best venues to visit locally.
Even in Covid restrictions we had some great days out and found some lovely places to eat and drink😀
We will definitely be back and happy to recommend this beautiful place to all our friends!
