About Kingfisher Cabin

The accommodation is all on one level, with an open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area.

The fully equipped kitchen has an electric oven and ceramic hob, a microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, toaster, kettle and a Tassimo coffee machine, plus an outside dining space for warmer days. The dining table seats four, with lake views, and the living area has two plush two-seater sofas, a Smart TV and WiFi.

A small lobby leads to the shower room, with shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail. The bedrooms lead off the same lobby and are beautifully decorated with quality, comfortable furnishings.

Outside Space

The enclosed lawned garden is safe for dogs, with a covered decked area, wooden picnic table and benches, deck chairs, and a charcoal BBQ. Garden fencing is solid wood on two sides and low mesh on the others, kept low deliberately so it doesn’t spoil the lake views.

This was our second visit to Mill Farm and once again we stopped in kingfisher lodge.Upon arrival the lodge was clean and tidy with everything you would need, the hosts Neil and Gill are there if you need them but give you space to do your own thing. The fishing at the spring fed lake was just excellent with one red letter day when I Managed over 28 carp ( sorry I Lost count ) for what must have been well over 100 lb of fish. All the fish were pristine and looked like they had never been caught. The lodge itself is very handily placed for getting out and about and the pub is just up the road. I would have no hesitation in recommending any of the lodges for a lovely holiday. Mark Linda and two boxers Ruby and Betty

Our family of four + our dog have now stayed at Mill Farm twice, once in Otter cottage and the other in Kingfisher lodge, and both times we have been very happy with our stay. Key points: • Clean and warm accomodation with all the essentials provided. • Lovely views that overlooking a private, well-stocked fishing lake (free to use for guests). • An enclosed front garden where our dog could safely relax. • Grounds also include a private campfire site with kindling and fire wood provided, as well as complimentary hot chocolate, marshmallows and skewers 😊. Thank you Neil and Gill (our hosts) for being so welcoming and super responsive to our messages, both prior and during our stays. We look forward to visiting again in the future!

From the initial, friendly, contact with Neil and Gill, to the end of our stay, our family cannot fault our booking. The beautiful location, the brilliantly equipped cabins, the stunning lake, currently scattered with an explosion of flowering water lilies. Oh, and don't forget feeding the friendly Alpacas, the highlight for the grandchildren, along with the guinea pig cuddles. We were a double booking, a mixed family of eight, ranging from a lively 3 year old to a grandfather with mobility issues. That same grandfather hasn't managed to fish for over 30 years, and was able to catch and release multiple Rudd, although Carp of many varieties are present too. A rod licence is required, less than £15 from the environment agency, for 1 weeks fishing. Definitely value for money. The informative insider information folder, in each cabin, was a positive gold mine for the family. Can personally recommend the takeaway from the local pub, the Bradworthy Arms, the local grocery shop (great coffee too! ), The Bush for the Sunday roast (great choice of vegetables) and Blackrock Beach, a little further away, for the exuberant setters, dog friendly and a vast sandy beach, at low tide, for those same setters to run free with the grandchildren. An excellent butchers, providing home cooked pasties and great bbq supplies rounded off a perfect, lazy week. As a family we hope to go back soon.

We stayed as a wider family group in all three cottages and we were very impressed with the general location, the immediate surroundings and the accommodation itself. The hosts were as welcoming as can be. The recommended local catering was also very good too, especially "The Bush", near Bude. We would recommend buying your BBQ supplies from the hosts' son Tom, who supplies meat to local businesses as well as direct to people like us. Needless to say we brought some home too.

We went to Mill Farm for an Alpaca experience and we had such a good time. Neil and Jill were both lovely and so welcoming and of course the Alpacas were gorgeous. Mill Farm is such a beautiful location, the lodges look right over the stunning lake and each has their own garden. Well worth a visit or a stay !!

Just finished a week in Owl Lodge with our two children, fantastic. The lodge is great, spotless on arrival, and a very generous welcome box of goodies! Our two dogs (chihuahua and border collie) loved it as well. Beautiful, peaceful setting. The fishing was fantastic - we had lots of carp up to about 8lb, roach, rudd, and a little perch. North Devon is a beautifully stunning location as long as you don’t mind a bit of driving. The alpacas are fascinatingly curious creatures who enjoy watching you fish! And the campfire area is a lovely touch. The owners are lovely, and you really feel like everything has been taken care of and thought about. We highly recommend it for a quiet peaceful getaway.

We have just returned from a fabulous week staying in Owl Lodge with our 3 sons and 2 dogs. Communication from Gill at the start of booking this holiday was superb, on arrival we were welcomed with a much appreciated box of treats for us and the dogs! The lodge was spotless and very comfy with lots of extras that made the stay so much nicer than other places we’ve visited including large fluffy towels. Views from the lodge are absolutely stunning even on the greyest of days! All lodges look out onto the vast fishing lake, which our boys thoroughly enjoyed spending many hours catching the fish. Neil was super helpful when one of our sons had trouble with one of his fishing rods and kindly helped him get it up and running/catching again! The friendly alpacas that live here just make you smile every time you see them and both Gill and Neil took the time to let us meet them all, feed them and answer our endless questions! There are some real lovely spots around the farm - riverside retreat was a perfect little hut I could sit and read my book whilst watching the boys fish a stone throw away. There is a really cosy separate area where you can have a lovely campfire in the evenings - we were provided with everything we needed for a perfect family evening, logs, kindling, marshmallows, toasting sticks etc! There are also facilities to bbq right in your garden at your lodge. The village which is walking distance, has everything you need, a very friendly local pub, grocery shops, butchers etc Beautiful beaches and more fishing lakes were just a short drive away. A welcome pack has loads of information on places to go! Gill and Neil were the perfect hosts - always helpful & available if needed - but also so respectful of not being intrusive. I would highly recommend this place to anyone - it is the most perfect place for escapism!
