Mill Farm Devon Holidays

Hello and welcome to Mill Farm

We are a family-run business offering self-catering accommodation in 3 luxury lakeside holiday properties.

Each property sleeps a total of 4 persons, in 2 bedrooms, (a king-size master and a twin room with 2 single beds), and they all have a spectacular view of our very own well-stocked fishing lake and the glorious Devon countryside beyond..

We have a picnic area in one of the fields, with a fire bowl and stunning views, plus a small herd of alpacas which you are welcome to come and meet. An alpaca experience is included with a full weeks stay!

Situated on the outskirts of the charming village of Bradworthy, we are well placed for the coast, (our nearest beach is less than 10 miles away at Sandymouth), Tamar Lakes Activity Centre, (a 10 min drive), and being on the Devon/Cornwall border, we are also less than 25 mins from the fabulous seaside towns of both Bude and Westward Ho!

Take a look at our Things to do page and our blog for more details of the many attractions nearby.

You can find more details about each lodge on our accommodation page, and if you have any queries please feel free to contact us. Alternatively, you can book here now.

Kingfisher Cabin and Owl Lodge are timber built lodges, and Otter Cottage is brick built, and they all benefit from stunning lake views.

Kingfisher Cabin is a timber lodge and it has been beautifully decorated to compliment its wonderfully light and airy aspect, overlooking our stunning fishing lake and grounds.

The layout consists of two, luxurious bedrooms, (one twin room with two single beds. and a master bedroom with a luxurious king-size bed), and a fully tiled shower room, but the real attraction is the stunning living space.

From here the fully glazed wall allows you to take in the amazing lake view before you even step outside!

This area also includes a well equipped kitchen, with an electric cooker, fridge and dishwasher, (well you are on holiday). Along with a microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker.

The dining area towards the front of the room, affords you a great view of the lake while you eat your meals, and the two comfortable sofas on the other side of the room are a great place to relax and read a book or watch TV.

Stepping out onto your private deck brings you even closer to the lake, so we have enclosed and gated this area for peace of mind for those with young children, or dogs, (we allow up to two medium (Spaniel) sized dogs in each property and there is a charge of £20 per dog).

Fishing in our lake is exclusively for Mill Farm lodge guests, (a valid rod licence is required). If you wander around the lake and up into the field, you will find a picnic bench with amazing views over the surrounding countryside, and a fire-bowl for toasting marshmallows in the evening. (Campfire kits can be purchased on site). You can also see the alpacas happily grazing in their field.

Otter Cottage is our brick built, cosy retreat and it has been beautifully decorated in a glamorous Art Deco inspired style.

It has two bedrooms, (one twin and a king-size master), as well as a shared bathroom room, with a bath and a shower over. (Otter cottage is a little quirky, in that access to the master bedroom is via the bathroom).

The kitchen is fully fitted, with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle, as well as a coffee machine.

Leading from the kitchen is the lounge diner, with sumptuous sofas to lay back on and watch TV, or take in the fabulous views over the deck outside and beyond to the well-stocked fishing lake.

About Us

When Neil and I first saw Mill Farm we were completely bowled over by its stunning grounds

and lakes.

With the added bonus of the countryside setting, a thriving village close by and amazing sandy beaches within easy reach, we knew we had found

our forever home.

We also knew it would be the perfect place for our guests to unwind, relax and enjoy the glorious Devon countryside and nearby coast,

Although there was plenty of work to do to the existing holiday properties, we could envision how they would look once we had refurbished them, and we set about making our plans a reality.

Now we have our luxury. stylish self-catering properties, equipped with everything you need, set just a stone's throw, (literally, even if you can't throw very well), from our well-stocked lake.

And we're waiting to welcome you to Mill Farm, so that you can share our little piece of Heaven right here in Devon.

Alpacas

As well as seeing our gorgeous boys, Ziggy, Freddie, Prince, Vader, Chewy and Cody grazing in their field, you can also come and meet them!

You have one, complimentary alpaca experience included in your stay and we run them around 9-9.30am on a weekday. Just let us know when you’d like to join us, (if you don’t see us out and about you can text 07759931216).

We’ll meet you by the picnic bench at the top of the fields and the experience will include meeting and feeding the alpacas, plus there’ll be an opportunity for lots of selfies with the stunning Devon countryside in the background.

If you would like a lasting memento of your new furry friends you can now purchase alpaca adoption packs for £35, the proceeds of which go towards keeping our boys in the luxury they deserve!

Our Private Lake

All of our lodges have a stunning view over our beautiful lake, and they really are just a stone's throw from the water's edge.

We now offer fishing in the well-stocked waters and it's use is exclusively for our guests. (You will need a valid rod licence and your own equipment to fish).

We have several species of Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Tench and Perch and you can fish listening to the calming sounds of the river Waldon, which borders our property.

Take a look at our Catch of the day page for some of our previous guests catches.

You'll find our newly installed, decked fishing jetties just a short stroll along the bank of the lake.

Sandymouth Bay

You could easily spend an entire day at Tamar Lakes, paddle boarding, canoeing or simply walking around the lakes on a nature trail.

It's a great place for the kids to burn off some energy, undertake some activities and learn some new skills.

They also offer angling tuition, tackle hire and there's a bait shop too.

Then if all that's worn you out, you can have a leisurely coffee in the Frog Hopper cafe whilst enjoying the views from the balcony.

Cycling and walking

With unspoiled views and stunning landscapes why not jump on your bike?

There's lots to see and places to explore, like Volehouse Moor for a bit of nature, or pedal your way up the road to the famous seaside village of Clovelly ,with its pedestrianized cobbled main street and quaint harbour, well worth a look.

There are also plenty of public footpaths, if you'd rather have a stroll, that wind their merry way around the peaceful countryside right on your doorstep and always the possibility to see some of the local wildlife going about its business.

Things to do

If you take a stroll from the beach, along the canal, you'll find the Olive Tree, which is another fine eatery which we can personally recommend. (It's a tough job, but we like to do the research properly for our guests!)

Then, once you've refuelled, you might  like to continue down the canal towpath, or hire a canoe, pedaloe or bike. There's plenty of wildlife to spot along the towpath as you approach the Bude Marshes.

Just a couple of the amazing beaches within easy reach of Mill Farm are Crooklets and Summerleaze beaches in Bude and the amazing Bude sea pool (Click here for their website).

Bude has many cafes, restaurants and shops and you could easily spend a whole day exploring.

We're very fortunate to have this amazing beach as our 'local', as it's less than 10 miles from us here at Mill Farm!

It's a National Trust beach and it's just a short walk from their car park, as is the cafe, which serves great coffee and food.

The beach is particularly popular with families and surfers and also dog owners, as it's dog friendly all year round.

Tamar Lakes

Less than a 5 minute walk away is the thriving village of Bradworthy and our  excellent local.

During the day they run a coffee shop and you can get your Full English breakfast there from 10am along with a selection of fresh cakes and pastries.

We can testify that the food and atmosphere are lovely, try the Sunday carvery but be sure to book as it's very popular.

Just a short "drive" (sorry) away is the well regarded, 18 hole ,Holsworthy Golf Club.

Offering a warm welcome to guests this friendly club has its own clubhouse offering locally sourced homemade food.
